More supported avionics, thousands more airports, and we caught the bounce

What shipped in June: bounce detection on every landing, support for far more panels, and a big jump in airport coverage.

We caught the bounce

Bounced landings are now called out — and graded on how hard you came back down. The detector got more robust too: it catches quick skips it used to miss and ignores a smooth roll on a sloped runway. It even spots the rarer case where a gust picks you back up off the runway just after touchdown — a different thing from a bounce — and flags it in your review.

Works with more of your panel

landing.fyi now reads logs from far more avionics — the Garmin G1000 family, GI 275, G500/600/700 (TXi) and G5, plus Dynon, MGL, GRT and Avidyne — and a Garmin Pilot export too, when it's connected to a supported panel. And when two instruments record the same flight, they now merge into one — with a source chip for each panel.

Thousands more airports

Coverage grew well beyond the US: Australia, Europe, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and Namibia are all live, with runway-level thresholds. That's over 13,900 airports and 18,300 runways across seven regions — and we satellite- and chart-verify the coordinates as we go.

June was about breadth — reading more of your flying, at more of your airports.

Bounced landings now get named and graded on how firmly you came back down, and the touchdown detector got sturdier: it catches the quick skips it used to miss and stops mistaking a smooth roll on a sloped runway for a bounce. And a rarer cousin — a gust that lifts you back off the runway a second after touchdown — gets caught too, and called out in your review.
